How to fix error code 007-2920 on the 3DS?

The 3ds error code 007-2920 is a problem that can occur when trying to update the 3DS system software. This error code indicates that the update data is not compatible with the system, and can happen for a number of reasons. One possibility is that the update data is for a different region than the 3DS itself, and thus is not compatible. Another possibility is that the update data is corrupted, and thus is not compatible with the 3DS. In either case, the 3DS will usually display an error message indicating that the update data is not compatible, and will require the user to obtain the correct update data in order to continue.

1. Turn off the 3DS and then turn it back on

  1. Power off the 3DS by pressing and holding down the power button for about seven seconds.

  2. After the 3DS has powered off, press and hold down the power button again to turn it back on.

  3. If the 3DS still does not work, try resetting it by pressing and holding down the power button for about 10 seconds until the 3DS powers off.

  4. After the 3DS has powered off, press and hold down the power button again to turn it back on.

  5. If the 3DS still does not work, try reinserting the battery and powering off the 3DS again.

  6. After the 3DS has powered off, press and hold down the power button again to turn it back on.

  7. If the 3DS still does not work, try restoring your device to factory settings by following these steps:

  8. Press and hold down the power button for about seven seconds until the 3DS powers off.

  9. After the 3DS has powered off, press and hold down the home button and the select button at the same time.

  10. After the 3DS has booted into the recovery mode, use the directional buttons to select “wipe data/factory reset.”

  11. Press the power button to continue.

  12. After the reset has completed, use the directional buttons to select “reboot system.”

  13. After the 3DS has rebooted, try turning it on again.

2. Go to the home menu and then close all applications

  1. From the Home Menu, select "System Settings."
  2. On the System Settings screen, select "System Information."
  3. On the System Information screen, under the "System Details" heading, locate and click on "Application Support."
  4. On the Application Support screen, locate and click on "Application Manager."
  5. On the Application Manager screen, locate and select the application that is causing the 3ds error code 007-2920-01.
  6. On the application's "Settings" screen, select "Close All."
  7. On the Application Manager screen, select "Exit."
  8. On the System Settings screen, select "System Information."
  9. On the System Information screen, under the "System Details" heading, locate and click on "System Restore."
  10. On the System Restore screen, select "Create Restore Point."
  11. On the System Restore Point screen, select "Create."
  12. On the System Restore Point screen, select "System Restore from Backup."
  13. On the System Restore from Backup screen, select "Back Up."
  14. On the System Restore from Backup screen, select "Copy to 3ds."
  15. On the 3ds System Restore screen, select "Start."
  16. On the 3ds System Restore screen, select "System Restore."
  17. On the System Restore screen, select "Restore."
  18. On the System Restore screen, select "Choose Items to Restore."
  19. On the System Restore screen, select "System Files."
  20. On the System Restore screen, select "Restore."
  21. On the System Restore screen, select "Finish."

3. Power off the 3DS and then power it back on

To power off the 3DS, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds until the unit powers off. To power it back on, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds until the 3DS logo appears, then release the button.

4. If the error code persists, contact Nintendo customer service

If the error code persists, contact Nintendo customer service in order to fix 3ds error code 007-2920.
