1. Check your Home Network Setting

“PS4 error NW-31246-6” may be caused by your internet service provider (ISP) or your Home network setting. To verify it, see instructions below.

  1. Remove both PS4 and modem from the electric source for at least a minute before turning it on again. This will renew your connection to the ISP.
  2. Check if your ISP is providing slow internet connection by visiting speedtest.net using your phone or PC. Contact the ISP if there is a problem.
  3. Use cable and directly connect to the modem, see if it fixes the “PS4 error NW-31246-6.” Or, position the PlayStation 4 where WiFi signal is good.

To know the range of your home network IP address, go to “View connection” copy the current IP address. You may also want to increase your IP address’ last three digits to avoid conflict it with other devices.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Go to Network.
  3. Go to Set Up Internet Connection.
  4. Select form WiFi or LAN Cable whichever you are using.
  5. Select Custom.
  6. For the IP address select Manual. Input IP, subnet, and gateway, that you have copied.
    NOTE: Increase the last three digits of the IP to +100. Base from the above “192.168.1.8,” increase it by 100. It should be 192.168.1.108.
  7. If you do not have a DNS server, use Google Public DNS
    Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
    Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
  8. For the MTU setting select automatic. Optional: Set MTU to 1473
  9. Proxy server select Do not use.
  10. Then, test your connection.
