Solution 1. Reconnect Hard disk drive (HDD) or Solid State Drive (SSD)

“Windows 10 blue screen inaccessible boot device” may be caused by the poor connection from your HDD or SSD to the motherboard or power supply.  Try to reconnect the cables in case they were attached poorly. Also, check your BIOS setting if it is booting to your primary (where Windows is installed) HDD or SSD. See instructions below.

  1. Reconnect  HDD or SSD to the motherboard.
  2. Turn on the computer.
    NOTE: Try to listen to the HDD. If there’s noise, please check Solution 3.
  3. Press Del to access BIOS.

  4. Go to Boot tab, select Boot device priority and select your bootable device.
    NOTE: Bootable device is where the Windows (OS)  is installed. If the bootable device is not detected by the BIOS, consider the HDD or SSD defective.
  5. Press F10 and save.

Solution 2.  Check hard disk drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD) for defects

“Windows 10 blue screen inaccessible boot device”  may also be caused by defective HDD or SSD. Check for defects. 

HDD

  1. Insert the Windows 10 installation CD/DVD or USB.
  2. A message will appear “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD”, press any key to boot from the Windows installation CD/DVD or USB.
  3. Select your language, time and keyboard, and click Next.

  4. Click Repair your computer.
  5. Click Troubleshoot ==> Advance Option ==> Command prompt. Type in chckdisk /r, then press enter, and wait until the process is finished.

SSD

For the SSD, let your computer standby in the BIOS for at least six hours so it can perform self-cleaning.

Solution 3. Reset PC

“Windows 10 blue screen inaccessible boot device” may also occur if your Windows 10 is damaged, has become unreliable, or has corrupt or missing files. Resetting your PC may fix the error. 

NOTE: Please reconnect the HDD where the Windows is installed and remove all secondary HDD and other storage devices such as USB storage device. Then, turn on the computer. If the error still persists, follow the instructions below.

  1. Insert the Windows 10 installation CD/DVD or USB.
  2. A message will appear “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD”, press any key to boot from the Windows installation CD/DVD or USB.

  4. Click Repair your computer.

  6. Then, customize your Windows and input your other information.

Solution 4. Reinstall Windows 

If “Windows 10 blue screen inaccessible boot device” still persists even if all the components are in good condition, or you replaced a bad hard disk drive (HDD), please install new Windows.

  1. Insert the Windows installation DVD or USB.
  2. A message will appear “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD”, press any key to boot from the Windows installation CD/DVD or USB.
  3. Select your language, time and keyboard, and click Next.
  4. Click Install Now.
  5. Click I accept the terms of the license, and then click Next.
  6. Click Custom (Advanced).
  7. Select the partition, and click Delete.
    NOTE: Delete all partition.

  8.  Select the Unallocated space and click Next.
    NOTE: 
    If you want to define the size, click new, set the size and then click Apply. 
  9. Click ok to confirm.
  10. Wait until the installation process is finished.
