What is 'Xbox Live sign in error'?

Xbox Live sign in error is an error that usually occurs when you're having a problem signing in to your account and most likely happens due to a network connection issue, corrupted data on you're console's hard drive or an outstanding balance in your subscription.

How can you fix 'Xbox Live sign in error'?

Some of the common fixes include:

  • Checking the internet connection
  • Deleting the corrupt file and clearing the cache
  • Setting the DNS

Please see our in-depth walk-through solutions below.

1. Check Internet connection

Xbox Live sign-in error may be caused by an intermittent internet connection. You may want to check your home network and your internet service provider connection (ISP), see the following below.

  1. Turn off then unplug for at least three minutes, your Xbox One and modem router.
  2. Using your computer or smartphone, visit speedtest.net, to check your internet speed. If the speed is normal, proceed to the next step. If the speed is far from normal, call your ISP.
  3. Check other users on your home network if they are using too much bandwidth. If they are, please try again later.
  4. If you are using WiFi use Ethernet cable or vice versa. For WiFi look for a better signal.
  5. In your home network, turn off any firewall or security policies such as bandwidth limiter or parental control. If you are using a separate router bypass it and directly connect to the modem, to avoid any security policies it applies. Some security policies are provided by your ISP, you may want to call them.

2. Delete the corrupt file and clear cache

Xbox Live sign-in error may also be caused by a corrupt file. To fix this, browse your hard disk drive for any corrupt file and delete it. Also, you may want to delete the stored cache on your Xbox. It could also cause the error.
