1. Restart your device in recovery mode and wipe the cache partition

  1. Hold down the Volume Down button and press the Power button at the same time to turn on the device.
  2. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Down button.
  3. Use the Volume Up button to highlight “System Recovery” and press the Power button to select it.
  4. Use the Volume Down button to select “Wipe Cache Partition” and press the Power button to select it.
  5. Use the Volume Up button to highlight “Yes” and press the Power button to select it.
  6. After the cache partition has been wiped, press the Power button to restart the device.

2. Boot your device in Safe Mode and uninstall the problematic app

  1. On your Android device, go to Settings -> About Phone -> System info.
  2. Tap on the Build number seven times to unlock the developer options.
  3. Go to Developer options and turn on USB debugging.
  4. Connect your Android device to your computer using the USB cable.
  5. Open a command prompt on your computer and type the following command: adb reboot bootloader.
  6. Once you've entered the bootloader, type the following command: fastboot oem remove <package name>
  7. Replace <package name> with the name of the problematic app.
  8. Once the app has been removed, reboot your Android device.
  9. Go to Settings -> Apps and disable the app from being enabled in the future.

3. Factory reset your device

To factory reset your device, first turn it off by pressing and holding the power button for at least 10 seconds. After it has turned off, hold down the Volume Down button and the Home button at the same time, then release the Power button. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Down button and press the Volume Up button to highlight “Factory Reset” and press the Power button to select it. Press the Volume Down button again to highlight “Yes—Delete All User Data” and press the Power button to select it. Press the Volume Down button one more time to highlight the “Reboot System Now” button and press the Power button to select it. After the device has rebooted, hold down the Volume Down button and the Home button at the same time, then release the Power button.

4. Flash a custom ROM

  1. Open a command prompt on your computer and type "adb reboot bootloader"
  2. Press the "Vol-Down" button on your phone and select "Recovery"
  3. In the menu that pops up, choose "Flash zip from sdcard" and select the ROM zip you downloaded
  4. Press the "Flash zip from sdcard" button again and select the "recovery.img" file
  5. Press the "Flash" button and wait for the phone to reboot
  6. Once the phone has rebooted, you'll be able to use it normally
