How do I fix error code 1010?

Error code 1010 is a runtime error that occurs when an application attempts to read or write data to a location that is outside the bounds of the program's data structures. This can happen when the program is trying to access a memory location that is not mapped to any physical memory, or when the program is trying to access a memory location that is not within the bounds of its address space.

1. Restart the computer

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the computer.
  3. Wait 30 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back in to the computer.
  5. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
  6. When the computer starts up, it will ask you to enter your user ID and password.
  7. Enter your user ID and password.
  8. The computer will start up in the Windows startup menu.
  9. To start the computer in safe mode, click on the start button, type "msconfig" in the search box, and press enter.
  10. Under the startup tab, click on the "safe mode" button.
  11. Under the "safe mode" tab, make sure that the "enable startup programs" check box is checked.
  12. Click on the "startup items" button, and make sure that the "Microsoft Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Standard" service is disabled.
  13. Click on the "apply" button, and restart the computer.

2. Check for updates

  1. On your computer, open the Windows Update system.
  2. If you are using a Microsoft account, sign in.
  3. In the left pane, click Change settings.
  4. In the Change settings window, under Computer updates, click Check for updates.
  5. In the Check for updates window, under Important updates, click Download and install updates.
  6. In the Download and install updates window, under Available updates, click Check for updates.
  7. In the Check for updates window, under Recommended updates, click Check for updates.
  8. In the Check for updates window, under Optional updates, click Check for updates.
  9. In the Check for updates window, under Recent updates, click Check for updates.
  10. If any updates are found, they will be listed in the Available updates area. If you want to install them, click Install updates.
  11. If you are using a Microsoft account, sign out of the Windows Update system.
  12. Close the Windows Update system.

3. Run a virus scan

  1. Open your antivirus software.
  2. Click on the Virus Scan tab.
  3. Select the scan type of your choice.
  4. Click on the Start Scan button.
  5. Wait until the scan is completed.
  6. If error code 1010 is found, fix it according to the instructions below.
  7. Click on the Close Scan button.
  8. Close your antivirus software.

If the answers above didn't work then you should also try:

  1. Check for hardware issues.
  2. Run a system file check.
  3. Run a disk cleanup.
  4. Reset the computer.
