1. Try restarting your device and then checking for updates again

  1. Open the Start menu and type "Windows Update"
  2. Click on the "Windows Update" icon that appears in the search results
  3. On the "Windows Update" screen, click on the "Check for updates" button

  9. If the page that you are trying to download is not loading, the "Trace" window will show an error message. If the page is loading, the "Trace" window will show the progress of the download.
  10. If the "Ping" and "Trace" windows show that the computer that you are trying to connect to is not online, click on the "Close" button in the "Status" window and try to connect to the computer again.

3. Try temporarily disabling your firewall or antivirus software and then checking for updates again

  1. Under System and Security, click on Windows Firewall.
  2. On the Windows Firewall screen, click on the Properties button.
  3. On the Properties screen, click on the Advanced button.
