How to Fix Windows Store Error Code 1?

1. Check your internet connection and try again

  1. If you are using a touch screen, use the right hand side of the screen to move the cursor to the top right corner of the screen, and then tap the Start button.
  2. If you are using a mouse, double click the Windows Store icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  3. If you are using a keyboard, press the Ctrl key and click the Windows Store icon.
  4. On the app page that opens, if the Store is not open, click the Open Store button.
  5. If the Store is open, click the My Apps tab.
  6. If the Store is open, and the app you are trying to open is not listed, click the All Apps tab.
  7. In the top left corner of the My Apps tab, under the Apps heading, click the name of the app you are trying to open.
  8. On the app page that opens, if the Store is not open, click the Open Store button.
  9. If the Store is open, click the My Apps tab.
  10. If the Store is open, and the app you are trying to open is not listed, click the All Apps tab.
  11. In the top left corner of the All Apps tab, under the Apps heading, click the name of the app you are trying to open.
  12. If the app is not installed, the page that opens displays an Install button.
  13. If the app is installed, the page that opens displays an Error message.
  14. If the store is open, and the app you are trying to open is not listed, click the All Apps tab.
  15. In the top left corner of the All Apps tab, under the Apps heading, click the name of the app you are trying to open.
  16. If the app is not installed, the page that opens displays an Install button.
  17. If the app is installed, the page that opens displays the following message: "Windows Store error code 1. Please try again later."

2. Try opening the Store app in Windows 10 in Safe Mode

  1. Open the Start Menu and click on the "Windows Store" app.
  2. If the "Windows Store" app does not open, you can open it by typing "windows store" in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu.
  3. If the "Windows Store" app opens in Safe Mode, you will see a message in the bottom left corner of the app window that reads "This app is in Safe Mode."
  4. To open the Store in Safe Mode, click on the "Settings" button in the bottom right corner of the app window.
  5. Under "General," click on the "Safe Mode" button.
  6. In the "Safe Mode" window, you will see a message that reads "This app is in Safe Mode."
  7. Click on the "OK" button to close the "Safe Mode" window and open the Store in normal mode.

3. Reset the Store app

To reset the store app, open Settings app, go to Apps and click on the Store app. On the next page, select Reset and confirm the reset by clicking on Reset.

4. Re-register the Store app

  1. Open the Windows Store app on your device.
  2. Tap the three lines in the top left corner of the app.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Under Store app settings, tap Re-register.
  5. Enter your Microsoft account credentials.
  6. Tap Re-register.
  7. Check the boxes next to the apps you want to re-register.
  8. Tap Re-register.
  9. Tap Finish.

5. Run the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter

To run the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter, open the Windows Store app on your device, and then click on the three lines in the top left corner of the app. On the resulting page, click on Troubleshoot problems. In the next window, click on Run the troubleshooter. In the next window, click on the button that says, Run the troubleshooter on this device. In the next window, click on the button that says, Troubleshoot problems with Windows Store apps. In the next window, follow the instructions on the screen to run the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter.
