What is 'Error 1723'?

"Error 1723" is an error that may occur when there is a problem with the Windows Installer package and it prevents the completion of the installation.

How can you fix 'Error 1723'?

Some of the common fixes include:

  • Running as Administrator
  • Running an anti-virus
  • Running SFC/ scannow command

Please see our in-depth walk-through solutions below.

1. Run as Administrator

If "Error 1723" was found while using Command Prompt, please right-click Windows Start and select Command Prompt (Admin). The error may appear since you are using a non-administrative account. You may also want to click "Windows start" then type CMD, and right-click Command Prompt and select "Run as Admin."

If the error is found while using other software, you could also right-click the .exe file and select "Run as Admin." Sometimes, even if you run it as admin, Windows will still prompt you with the error. You might need to log-in as an administrator.

2. Run Anti-virus

There is a chance that "Error 1723" could be related to a malware contamination on your Windows. Windows registry and files might be broken or corrupted due to the malware, causing the error when running a program. It is also possible that the malware won't let you have a full access in your Windows. A full scan of your computer using an anti-virus might help.

3. Run SFC/ scannow command

After scanning your system with anti-virus, let SFC command scan your PC to fix damaged files that are causing error 1723. See the video below. When the scan is complete check for Windows Updates.
