1. Restart your computer and try again

-Click on the Power button -Select the Restart button -Select the OK button -Your computer will restart and you will be prompted to enter your password -After your computer restarts, try to open the Windows Update again

2. Check for updates and install any that are available

  5. In the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter window, click on the Run button.
  6. In the Run window, type the following command and press Enter: wincert.exe
  7. If the Windows Store App Troubleshooter window displays a message stating that the Windows Store App Troubleshooter cannot be opened because the required software is not installed, then install the Windows Store App Troubleshooter software by following the instructions that are provided in the message.
  8. If the Windows Store App Troubleshooter window displays a message stating that the Windows Store App Troubleshooter has found a problem, then follow the instructions that are provided in the message.
  9. If the Windows Store App Troubleshooter window displays a message stating that the Windows Store App Troubleshooter has completed its task, then follow the instructions that are provided in the message.

4. Reset the Store cache

  1. Open the Store app on your device.
  2. Tap on the three lines in the top left corner of the Store app.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Under General, tap on Reset Store.
  5. Tap on Reset Store again.
  6. If the error code 0x803f8001 is still appearing, then the Store cache needs to be reset.

5. Re-register the Store

The following are the steps to re-register the Store:

  1. Go to the Microsoft Store website and sign in.
  2. On the left side of the screen, under My Microsoft, select Store.
  3. On the right side of the screen, under Account, select Re-register store.
  4. On the next page, enter your Microsoft account email address and password.
  5. Click Re-register store.
  6. On the next page, enter your product key or product code. If you do not have a product key or product code, you will need to purchase a new copy of the app.
  7. Click Re-register store.
  8. On the next page, enter your product registration information.
  9. Click Re-register store.
  10. On the next page, confirm your product registration information.
  11. Click Re-register store.
  12. On the next page, select a store location.
  13. Click Re-register store.
  14. On the next page, select a language.
  15. Click Re-register store.
  16. On the next page, select a country.
  17. Click Re-register store.
  18. On the next page, review your product registration information.
  19. Click Re-register store.
  20. On the final page, click Re-register store.

If you didn't find success with an option above, then try:

  1. Run Windows PowerShell as Administrator and enter the following command: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
  2. Try opening the Store in safe mode. To do this, press the Windows key + R, type wsreset.exe, and then press Enter.
