Exit code 255 is an error code that is typically associated with a networking issue. This error code can occur when a network connection is lost or a network resource is unavailable. This error code can also occur when a program is unable to communicate with a network resource.

1. Restart your computer and try again

To restart your computer, first press the power button to turn it off. Then, press and hold the “shutdown” button for about 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, release the “shutdown” button. Type “net start wuauserv” in the command prompt and press enter. Type “exit code 255” in the command prompt and press enter.

2. If you are using a Windows operating system, try using the Windows System Restore tool to restore your system to a previous point in time

  1. Open the Windows System Restore tool by clicking on the Start button and typing "system restore" into the search box.
  2. Click on the system restore icon that appears in the list of results.

4. Try using the Windows System File Checker tool to repair any corrupted system files

  1. Open Windows System File Checker by running the "sfc /scannow" command from the command prompt.
  2. Locate the corrupted system file and click on it to open the properties dialog.
  3. In the properties dialog, select the "Repair" tab and click on the "Start Repair" button.
  4. If the repair process is successful, the "Success" message will be displayed and the exit code will be set to 0. If the repair process is unsuccessful, the "Error" message will be displayed and the exit code will be set to 255.
