There are a few different error codes that can pop up on an LG refrigerator. Some of the more common ones include the ER 1F, ER FF, and ER rd codes. These codes typically indicate that there is a problem with the refrigerator's compressor, Evaporator Fan, or Condenser Fan. If one of these components is not working properly, it can cause the fridge to not cool properly or to not cool at all. In some cases, the error code may also indicate that the fridge is not level or that the doors are not sealing properly. If you see an error code on your LG fridge, it is best to contact a certified LG technician to come and take a look at it.

1. Restart the refrigerator and see if the error code goes away

  1. Shut off the refrigerator by unplugging the power cord.
  2. Remove the door panel by gently prying it off with a flathead screwdriver.
  3. Remove the two screws that hold the moisture sensor in place.
  4. Remove the moisture sensor.
  5. Clean the condenser coils if necessary.
  6. Replace the moisture sensor and screws.
  7. Plug the power cord back in and re-install the door panel.
  8. Test the refrigerator by turning it on.

2. Check the refrigerator's air vents to make sure they are not blocked

  1. Open the refrigerator door.
  2. Check the top and bottom of the refrigerator to make sure there are no obstructions.
  3. Look in the air vents to see if they are blocked. If they are, use a vacuum cleaner to clear the obstruction.
  4. Close the refrigerator door and test the refrigerator.

3. Clean the refrigerator's coils

  1. Open the refrigerator door and remove any items that are obstructing the coils.
  2. Locate the coils on the back of the refrigerator.
  3. Use a vacuum cleaner to clean the coils.
  4. Replace any cleaning supplies that are needed, and close the refrigerator door.
  5. Reinstall the items that were removed in step 1, and close the refrigerator door.

4. Make sure the refrigerator is level

  1. Check to see if the refrigerator is level by tipping it on its side. If it is not level, the refrigerator may not be cooling or freezing properly.
  2. If the refrigerator is still not cooling or freezing properly, adjust the refrigerator’s leveling legs.
  3. If the refrigerator still does not cool or freeze properly, check to see if the refrigerator’s compressor is working properly. If the compressor is not working, it may need to be replaced.

5. Check the door gasket to make sure it is sealing properly

To check the door gasket on an LG refrigerator, follow these steps:

  1. Look for any leaks around the door gasket. If there are any leaks, fix them.
  2. Open the door of the refrigerator.
  3. Check the seals around the door hinges. If the seals are not properly aligned, the door will not close properly.
  4. Check the seals around the edge of the door. If these seals are not properly aligned, cold air will not be able to flow into the refrigerator and food will not be preserved.
  5. Reattach the door gasket if it is missing or if it is not properly aligned.
  6. Close the door of the refrigerator and check that it seals properly.
