Solution 1. Change the Router setting

PS4 error NW-31291-6 may occur if your PS4 could not see your SSID (WiFi network Name), or could not obtain an IP address from your SSID. This may be due to an old WiFi module, that is not compatible with the router bandwidth. You may want to access your modem router using your computer to change the wireless settings. Please see Options 1 and option 2.

To access your router look for an instruction in the web using your router brand and model as a keyword. If the device is provided by the internet service provider (ISP) call your them for assistance.

 Option 1. Change Wireless Mode

  1. Access your modem router.
  2. Inside your modem router, click Wireless setting.
  3. Look for Mode, Mode 802.11, or Network mode.

  4. If it is set to 40MHz change it to 20MHz. If it is set to 20MHz change it to 40Mhz.

If the error still persists, your modem router may require a restart to update the change. Unplug your modem router and your PS4 for at least three minutes.
