  15. You can now restart your computer to finish the installation.

3. Run the Windows System File Checker tool and let it scan for and repair any corrupted system files

  1. Open the Windows System File Checker tool by clicking on the Start button and typing “systemfilechecker” in the search box.
  2. When System File Checker is displayed in the search results, click on it to open it.
  3. On the main window of System File Checker, click on the “Scan for Corruption” button.
  4. System File Checker will scan your computer for corrupted system files and offer to repair them. If any are found, System File Checker will offer to replace them with updated versions. Click on the “Repair Corrupted Files” button to proceed.
  5. System File Checker will then ask you to confirm that you wish to repair the files. Click on the “Yes” button to proceed.
  6. System File Checker will then ask you to confirm that you wish to restart your computer. Click on the “Yes” button to restart your computer.
  7. When your computer restarted, you will be prompted to log on again. Click on the “Log on” button to continue.
  8. After you have logged on, you will be presented with the main screen of your computer. Click on the “Start” button to continue.
