How do I fix error code 0x7e?

Error code 0x7e is a Windows error code that indicates that a system error has occurred. This error code often occurs when a driver or software conflict occurs. When this error code occurs, it is often accompanied by a blue screen error message. This error code can also occur if a system file is corrupted or if a hardware device is failing.

1. Restart your computer and try again

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. If the error persists, try the steps below. -If you are using Windows 10: -Press the "Start" button, type "cmd" (without the quotes), and press Enter. -Type "net stop wuauserv" (without the quotes), and press Enter. -Type "net start wuauserv" (without the quotes), and press Enter. -If you are using Windows 8 or 8.1: -Press the "Windows Key + R" at the same time, type "cmd" (without the quotes), and press Enter. -Type "net stop wuauserv" (without the quotes), and press Enter. -Type "net start wuauserv" (without the quotes), and press Enter.

2. Update your drivers

  1. Open Device Manager by clicking on the Start button, clicking on Control Panel and then clicking on Device Manager.
  2. Right-click on the device that you are having error code 0x7e with and select Update Driver.
  3. Browse to the location of the driver file that you downloaded previously and select it.
  4. Click on the Next button and wait for the driver to be installed.
  5. Click on the Finish button to complete the process.
