Error code 108 is a system error code that is typically caused by a problem with the computer's registry. The registry is a central database that stores information about the computer's hardware, software, and user settings. When the registry becomes corrupt or damaged, it can cause the computer to experience a variety of problems, including the blue screen of death (BSOD). Error code 108 can also be caused by a virus or malware infection, a hardware failure, or a corrupted Windows installation.
1. Restart your computer
- Shut down your computer.
- Remove the battery if it is removable.
- Turn your computer over so that the back is facing you.
- Find the power button and turn it on.
- Hold down the C key as your computer starts up.
- Type in "cmd" and press enter.
- Type in "shutdown -r" and press enter.
- Remove the battery if it is removable.

- Hold down the C key as your computer starts up.
- Type in "cmd" and press enter.
- Type in "reboot" and press enter.
- After your computer restarts, check to see if the error code has been fixed.
2. Update your drivers
- Under the Display adapters category, right-click the device that is giving you the error code 108 and click Update Driver
- In the Driver File Selection dialog box, click Browse my computer for driver software
- In the Follow the wizard to install the driver software box, click Yes
- Click Update Driver.
- When the update is complete, click Close.
3. Run a virus scan
- Open the Control Panel and double-click on the System and Security icon.
- On the System and Security window, click on the Virus Protection tab.
- On the Virus Protection window, under Scan Type, select Perform a full scan.
- Click on Start and wait for the scan to finish.
- If the scan results show that there is a virus on your computer, then follow the instructions provided to fix the error code 108.
