How to fix the Trane error code 184.07?

The Trane error code 184.07 indicates that the furnace is not able to produce enough heat. This can be caused by a number of things, such as a dirty or blocked filter, a problem with the blower motor, or a problem with the gas valve.

1. Check the thermostat to ensure it is set to the correct mode

  1. Open the thermostat by sliding it open from the front.
  2. Look at the label on the thermostat housing to see which mode it is in.
  3. If it is in "A/C" mode, press and hold the "C" button until the green light starts to flash.
  4. Keep holding the "C" button until the green light turns off.
  5. If it is in "Heat" mode, release the "C" button.
  6. Look at the yellow triangle on the front of the thermostat.
  7. If it is in "Heat" mode, the triangle should be pointing down.
  8. If it is not in "Heat" mode, the triangle should be pointing up.
  9. Press and hold the "A" button until the green light starts to flash.
  10. Keep holding the "A" button until the green light turns off.
  11. Look at the label on the thermostat housing to see which mode it is in.
  12. If it is in "A/C" mode, press and hold the "C" button until the green light starts to flash.
  13. Keep holding the "C" button until the green light turns off.
  14. If it is in "Heat" mode, release the "C" button.
  15. Look at the yellow triangle on the front of the thermostat.
  16. If it is in "Heat" mode, the triangle should be pointing down.
  17. If it is not in "Heat" mode, the triangle should be pointing up.
  18. Press and hold the "A" button until the green light starts to flash.
  19. Keep holding the "A" button until the green light turns off.
  20. If it is in "A/C" mode, press and hold the "C" button until the green light starts to flash.
  21. Keep holding the "C" button until the green light turns off.
  22. If it is in "Heat" mode, release the "C" button.
  23. Close the thermostat by sliding it closed from the front.

2. Check the air filter and clean or replace it if necessary

To check the air filter and clean or replace it if necessary in order to fix Trane error code 184.07, first turn off the power to the unit by flipping the breaker or unplugging the power cord. Next, remove the cover plates over the air filter and the fan. Using a vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment, vacuum the filter and the fan. Replace the cover plates and turn on the power to the unit. If the error code is still present, the air filter or fan may need to be replaced.

3. Check the outdoor unit to ensure it is free of debris and the coils are clean

To check if the outdoor unit is free of debris, look for rust and dirt on the coils. If there is debris on the coils, clean them with a wire brush. If the coils are not clean, replace the outdoor unit. To check if the outdoor unit is free of debris and the coils are clean, follow these steps:

  1. Open the outdoor unit's cover.
  2. Look for dirt and rust on the coils.
  3. If there is debris on the coils, clean them with a wire brush.
  4. Close the outdoor unit's cover and test the unit.

4. Check the indoor unit to ensure it is free of debris and the coils are clean

  1. Locate the Indoor Unit and open the front cover
  2. Look inside the unit for debris and clean the coils
  3. Reinstall the front cover

5. Have a trained professional inspect the entire system for any potential problems

  1. Verify that the thermostat is in the correct temperature range.
  2. Verify that all valves and pipes are closed properly.
  3. Verify that all air filters are clean and in good condition.
  4. Verify that all ducts and outside air sources are properly sealed.
  5. Verify that the heat pump is properly set up and is in the correct mode.
  6. Verify that the insulation is in good condition.
  7. Verify that the fan is working properly.
  8. Verify that the system is properly wired.
  9. Verify that all registers and sensors are working properly.
  10. Verify that the system is properly sealed.
