Solution 1. Do a system update or game update 

“Wii U error code 160” may occur when your Wii U version is not up to date or the game update is corrupt.  Try to update Wii U or re-update the game with the error, and see if it fixes the problem.

System Update

  1. Tap “System Settings.”
  2. Navigate and tap “System Update.”

  3. Update it to the latest version.
    Skip this if it is already up to date.

Game Update

  1. Tap “System Settings.”
  2. Navigate and tap “Data Management.”

  3. Navigate and tap “Copy/Move/Delete Data” then tap “System Memory.”
  4. Tap the game with an error, delete the update only.

 Solution 2. Remove the storage device 

“Wii U error code 160” may also occur when it detects a damaged storage device. Try to remove the external storage device then restart the Wii U and see if the error still occurs. If the error still persists, the problem could the storage device inside the Wii U. Take your Wii U for repair or replacement. It could be a NAND chip hardware problem.
