The 5d error code on a Whirlpool washer indicates that the washer is not draining properly. This can be caused by a clogged drain, a problem with the drain pump, or a problem with the control board.

1. Check the power supply to the washing machine

  1. Check the power supply to the washing machine by unplugging it and plugging it back in. If the power supply is working, the washing machine will turn on and give you a 5d error code.
  2. If the power supply is not working, you will need to replace it.

2. Check the washing machine's water supply

  1. Open the front cover of the washer.
  2. Look for a water supply line attached to the back of the washer.
  3. If the water supply line is missing or damaged, replace it.
  4. Turn off the power to the washer.
  5. Disconnect the water supply line from the washer.
  6. Check the water supply line for leaks.
  7. Replace the water supply line if necessary.
  8. Reconnect the water supply line to the washer.
  9. Turn on the power to the washer.
  10. Check the washing machine's water supply for leaks.

3. Check the washing machine's drain hose

1.Turn off the power to the washer. 2.Open the front of the washer. 3.Locate the drain hose. 4.Look for clogs or debris in the drain hose. 5.Remove any clogs or debris from the drain hose. 6.Close the front of the washer. 7.Turn on the power to the washer. 8.Check the drain hose for leaks.

If you didn't find success with an option above, then try:

  1. Check the washing machine's filter.
  2. Call a qualified washing machine repair technician.
