1. Update your graphics card drivers

  1. Under Display adapters, right-click your graphics card and select Update Driver.
  2. In the Driver Installation Wizard, click the Browse my computer for driver software button.
  3. In the Browse my computer for driver software dialog box, select the appropriate driver for your graphics card.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Select the Update Driver button.
  6. In the Update Driver Wizard, click the Browse for a driver software from a local area network (WAN) or the Internet button.
  7. In the Browse for a driver software from a local area network (WAN) or the Internet dialog box, enter the following information: -The computer name -The network address of the computer from which you will be downloading the driver -The name of the driver software file
  8. Click Next.
  9. In the Confirm Update Driver Wizard dialog box, click the Update button.
  10. In the Update Driver Wizard progress bar, wait until the driver is installed.
  11. Click Finish.
  12. Close Device Manager.

2. Reinstall your graphics card drivers

-Right click on the graphics card and select "Update Driver Software" -Select "Browse my computer for driver software" -Select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer" -Select the graphics card driver and click "Next" -If prompted to install the driver software, select "Yes" -Wait while the driver is installed -Close Device Manager -Reboot your computer -Open Device Manager -Right click on the graphics card and select "Update Driver Software" -Select "Browse my computer for driver software" -Select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer" -Select the graphics card driver and click "Next" -If prompted to install the driver software, select "Yes" -Wait while the driver is installed -Close Device Manager -Reboot your computer -Open the game and try to launch it -If the game still fails to start, try reinstalling your graphics card drivers

3. Try running the game in compatibility mode

  1. Right-click on the game in your Steam library and select "Properties".
  2. Select the "Compatibility" tab.
  3. Check the "Run the game in compatibility mode for" box and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)".
  4. Click on "OK".
  5. Close the Properties window.
  6. Launch the game.
  7. If the problem is still there, repeat steps 3-6.

4. Try running the game as an administrator

  1. In Windows 8, open the Start screen and type "cmd".
  2. When the Command Prompt window opens, type "cd" and press Enter.
  3. Change the directory to the game installation folder.
  4. Type "set vers=latest" and press Enter.
  5. Type "cmd" and press Enter.
  6. Type "start game" and press Enter.
  7. If the game does not start, try restarting your computer.
  8. If the game still does not start, try running the game as an administrator.
  9. To run the game as an administrator, type "cmd" and press Enter.
  10. Type "set admin=true" and press Enter.
  11. Type "start game" and press Enter.

5. Verify the game files through Steam

  1. Open Steam and sign in.
  2. In the main menu, click on Games.
  3. On the Games tab, under the Recently Played section, right-click on the game that you're trying to fix and select Properties.
  4. On the Properties page, click on the Local Files tab.
  5. Under the Local Files section, click on Verify.
  6. Steam will scan the game files and if there are any problems, it will display a dev error message. You can then fix the problem by following the instructions that Steam provides.

6. Delete the ShaderCache folder

  1. Open the Start menu and search for "CMD"
  2. When the Command Prompt window opens, type "cd" and press Enter
  3. Navigate to the directory where your Unity project is stored and type "del ShaderCache"
  4. Close the Command Prompt window and your project should now be working correctly.
