How to Fix Error Code 0x0000185?

This error code is caused by a damaged or corrupt registry. The registry is a central database that stores all the settings and options for your computer. Windows uses the registry to store information about all the hardware and software on your computer. If the registry becomes damaged or corrupt, Windows will be unable to access the information it needs to run properly. This can lead to a variety of problems, including the 0x0000185 error code. There are a number of ways to fix a damaged or corrupt registry, but it is important to only use trusted and reliable tools. Attempting to fix the registry manually can be very dangerous and can lead to further problems.

1. Restart your computer

  1. Shut down your computer.
  2. Remove the battery if it is installed.
  3. Disconnect the power cord from the back of your computer.
  4. Turn your computer over so that the back is facing up.
  5. Open the computer case.
  6. Remove the hard drive.
  7. Remove the motherboard.
  8. Remove the CPU.
  9. Remove the RAM.
  10. Remove the graphics card.
  11. Remove the optical drive.
  12. Remove the keyboard.
  13. Remove the mouse.
  14. Remove the network card.
  15. Remove the USB connectors.
  16. Remove the power supply.
  17. Remove the computer case screws.
  18. Lift the computer case off the desk.
  19. Clean the computer case and the components.
  20. Reattach the computer case screws.
  21. Replace the hard drive, motherboard, CPU, RAM, graphics card, optical drive, keyboard, mouse, and network card.
  22. Reconnect the power supply.
  23. Turn on your computer.

2. Update your drivers

  1. Open Device Manager by clicking on the Start button, clicking on Control Panel, clicking on System and Security, clicking on Device Manager, and clicking on the plus sign (+) to add a new device.
  2. Right-click on the device that you are trying to update and click on Update Driver.
  3. Click on the Browse my computer for driver software button.
  4. Locate the folder where your Windows operating system is installed and click on the driver files that you want to install.
  5. Click on the Open button.
  6. Click on the Yes button to install the driver.
  7. Restart your computer.

3. Perform a Clean Boot

To fix error code 0x0000185c, you must first restart your computer. Next, you will need to start your computer in safe mode. To do this, you will need to press the F8 key when you start your computer. Next, you will need to select the "Safe Mode with Networking" option. After you select the safe mode option, you will need to click on the "Start" button. After you click on the "Start" button, you will need to click on the "Restart" button. After you click on the "Restart" button, your computer will restart and you will be in safe mode. After your computer is in safe mode, you will need to open the "Command Prompt" window. To do this, you will need to press the "Windows" key and the "R" key at the same time. After you press the "Windows" key and the "R" key at the same time, you will need to type in the "cmd" command. After you type in the "cmd" command, you will need to press the "Enter" button. After you press the "Enter" button, you will be in the "Command Prompt" window. Next, you will need to type in the following command: bootrec /reinstallrec. After you type in the following command, you will need to press the "Enter" button. After you press the "Enter" button, your computer will restart. After your computer restarts, you will be in the "Windows" start menu. Next, you will need to click on the "Fix errors" option. After you click on the "Fix errors" option, you will need to click on the "Startup Repair" option. After you click on the "Startup Repair" option, your computer will start repairing the error code 0x0000185c.

4. Run a Virus Scan

  1. Open the Control Panel and click on System and Security.
  2. Click on the VirusScanner tab.
  3. Click on the Scan Now button.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

5. Perform a System Restore

  1. Open the Windows System File Checker.
  2. Click on “System Restore.”
  3. Select the Restore Point you wish to use and click Next.
  4. Review the Restore Point information and click Next.
  5. Select the Restore Options you wish to use and click Next.
  6. Confirm the Restore Point information and click Restore.
  7. If prompted to Restart your computer after the Restore is complete, click Yes.
