How do I fix the error code: 0x80070005?

Error code 0x80070005 is a Windows Update error that occurs when the update process is unable to access or write to the required files. 1. Try to run the program as an administrator

  1. Click Start, type Run, and press Enter.
  2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\lsass.exe, and press Enter.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Click OK again.
  5. Click OK yet again.
  6. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Security tab.
  7. In the User Security group, click the Add User button.
  8. In the Add User dialog box, type Administrator, and click OK.
  9. Click OK again.
  10. Click OK yet again.
  11. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
  12. In the Run dialog box, type cmd, and press Enter.
  13. In the Command Prompt window, type slmgr -rearm, and press Enter.
  14. In the Command Prompt window, type slmgr -add /q /v "Windows 7 Professional" /t REG_SZ, and press Enter.
  15. In the Command Prompt window, type slmgr -rearm, and press Enter.
  16. If the installation was successful, the system will restart.

2. Check if the program is blocked by your firewall

The first step is to check the firewall settings on your computer. If you are not sure how to do this, please consult your computer manufacturer's documentation. Once you have determined that the firewall is not blocking the program, you must determine the source of the error. One common cause of this error is that the program was not installed correctly. If you are sure that you have installed the program correctly, you may need to try uninstalling and reinstalling the program. 3. Check if the program is compatible with your version of Windows

4. Try to reinstall the program

The first step would be to try to restart the computer. If that does not work, the next step would be to try to uninstall and reinstall the program.

5. Try to run the program in Compatibility Mode

  1. Open the application in Compatibility Mode.
  2. Check the application's "Compatibility Mode" setting.
  3. If the application is in Compatibility Mode, change the application's compatibility mode setting.
  4. Try to run the application.

6. Try to disable your antivirus program temporarily

  1. Open the Control Panel and click on the Programs and Features button.
  2. On the Programs and Features window, double-click on the Antivirus program.
  3. On the Antivirus program window, click on the Change/Disable button.
  4. In the Change/Disable window, select the Disable option.
  5. Click on the OK button to disable the antivirus program.
