How to fix F20 in Whirlpool Washer?

The F20 error code on a Whirlpool washer indicates that the washer is not draining properly. This can be caused by a clogged drain, a problem with the drain pump, or a problem with the control board. 1. Change the settings on the washer

  1. Locate the "Settings" button on the front panel.
  2. Press the "Settings" button to open the "Settings" screen.
  3. On the "Settings" screen, press the "Wash" button to open the "Wash" screen.
  4. On the "Wash" screen, press the "Settings" button to open the "Settings" screen.
  5. On the "Settings" screen, press the "Water Level" button to open the "Water Level" screen.
  6. On the "Water Level" screen, press the "Temp" button to open the "Temp" screen.
  7. On the "Temp" screen, press the "Buttons" button to open the "Buttons" screen.
  8. On the "Buttons" screen, press the "Mode" button to open the "Mode" screen.
  9. On the "Mode" screen, press the "Temperature" button to open the "Temperature" screen.
  10. On the "Temperature" screen, press the "Start" button to start the washer.
  11. If the washer is in the "rinse" cycle, press the "End" button to stop the washer.
  12. Press the "Water Level" button to change the water level.
  13. Press the "Temp" button to change the temperature.
  14. Press the "Buttons" button to change the washer function.
  15. Press the "Start" button to start the washer.

2. Clean the washer

  1. Remove the front panel by removing the screws that hold it in place.
  2. Remove the drain hose and the water inlet hose.
  3. Remove the water pump.
  4. Remove the washboard.
  5. Remove the agitator.
  6. Remove the impeller.
  7. Remove the drain hose and the water inlet hose.
  8. Remove the water pump.
  9. Remove the washboard.
  10. Remove the agitator.
  11. Remove the impeller.
  12. Remove the drain hose and the water inlet hose.
  13. Clean the dirty parts with a mild dishwashing detergent and warm water.
  14. Replace the parts that have been cleaned.
  15. Replace the front panel.

3. Check the washer for leaks

  1. Remove the washer tub from the machine.
  2. Check the water level in the tub.
  3. Inspect the hoses, valves and pipes that supply water to the washer.
  4. Check the washer drum.
  5. Check the washer pump.
  6. Check the washer drain hose.
  7. Check the washer water heater.
  8. Check the washer motor.
  9. Replace any parts that need to be replaced.
