How do I fix the LF code on my Maytag washer?

The LF code on a Maytag washer indicates a long fill error. This error code happens when the washer is filling for too long or if the water pressure is too low.

1. Check that the washer is plugged into an outlet and that the outlet is working

  1. Verify that the washer is plugged into an outlet and that the outlet is working
  2. Verify that the power cord is properly plugged into the outlet
  3. Verify that the breaker is properly turned off
  4. Verify that the washer is on and the water is running
  5. Verify that the water level is low
  6. Verify that the door is properly closed
  7. Verify that the agitator is moving

2. Check the door latch to make sure it is engaged and that the door is closed properly

  1. Open the door of the washer.
  2. Check to see if the latch is engaged by looking for a button or lever on the exterior of the machine that you can push in to activate it. If the latch is not engaged, you will need to push the latch in from the inside of the machine.
  3. Close the door of the machine.
  4. Check to see if the door is properly closed by looking for a bar that goes across the top of the door and hinges at the bottom. The bar should be in the down position to indicate that the door is closed. If the door is not closed properly, you will need to adjust the door latch.

3. Press the "Start/Pause" button

  1. Open the front of the machine.
  2. Look for a button with the word "Start" on it.
  3. Push the "Start" button until you hear a beep.
  4. Look for a button with the word "Pause" on it.
  5. Push the "Pause" button until you hear a beep.
  6. Look for a button with the word "Reset" on it.
  7. Push the "Reset" button until you hear a beep.
  8. Look for a button with the word "Stop" on it.
  9. Push the "Stop" button until you hear a beep.

4. If the washer is still not working, unplug the washer and plug it back in

  1. Check to see if the breaker is tripped.
  2. Check to see if the power is being turned on to the washer.
  3. Check to see if the water is draining from the washer.
  4. Check to see if the hoses are connected to the washer.
  5. Check to see if the washer is plugged into an outlet.
  6. Check to see if the water filter is installed.
  7. Check to see if the water is cold enough.
  8. Check to see if the water is clean.
  9. Check to see if the water is high in minerals.
  10. Check to see if the washer has been dropped.
  11. Check to see if there is any debris in the water line.
  12. Check to see if there is any debris in the water pump.
  13. Check the washer for damage.
  14. Check to see if the washer is overloaded.
  15. Check to see if the washer is leaking.

5. If the washer is still not working, reset the washer by unplugging it from the outlet, waiting 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in

  1. Unplug the washer from the outlet.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Plug the washer back in.
  4. If the washer still does not work, reset the washer by unplugging it from the outlet, waiting 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in.
