Solution 1. Clean your disc

If “PS3 error reading disc” occurs only on a single disc, that disc may be dusty. Try to clean it and check if the disc becomes readable. On the other hand, a deep scratch on the disc might make it irreparable.

  1. Put a little isopropyl alcohol into your swab/ soft cloth
  2. Rub it on to your disc.
  3. Let it dry.
  4. Then, try the disc if it is readable.

Solution 2. Clean PS3 Lens

The lens on your PS3 could also be dirty causing “PS3 error reading disc”. Try to clean the lens using a DVD player lens cleaner. If it does not solve the problem, your lens is defective or the DVD tray is defective. Try to replace the whole module if your PS3 is out of warranty. Or, send your PS3 for warranty claim or repair.
