1. Restart your 3DS

  1. Hold down the power button on your 3DS for about 10 seconds until it shuts off.
  2. Press and hold the power button on your 3DS for about 10 seconds until it turns back on.
  3. Select the System Settings option from the main menu.
  4. Select the System Settings option again.
  5. Select the Reset System Settings option.
  6. Select the Erase All Content And Settings option.
  7. Enter your 3DS system password.
  8. Press the A button to start the reset process.
  9. When the reset process is complete, your 3DS will restart.

2. Power off your 3DS and remove the SD card

The 3DS uses sliding switches on the top to turn it on and off. To Power off your 3DS: 1. Slide the power switch to the Off position. 2. Slide the Home button to the Right to return to the Home screen. 3. Slide the Power switch to the Off position. 4. Remove the 3DS AC Adapter from the wall outlet. 5. Remove the 3DS battery. 6. Press and hold down the Power button on the front of the 3DS for at least 10 seconds until the 3DS powers off. 7. Remove the SD card from the 3DS. 8. Push the SD card into the bottom of the 3DS. 9. Replace the 3DS AC Adapter, 3DS battery, and SD card into their corresponding slots on the 3DS. 10. Slide the power switch to the On position.

3. Update your 3DS firmware to the latest version

  1. Connect your 3DS to the internet.
  2. Go to the Nintendo 3DS System Settings.
  3. Select System Settings > System Update.
  4. Select Check for Updates.
  5. If there is an update available, you will be prompted to download and install it.
  6. After the update is complete, your 3DS will restart.
  7. Once the system has restarted, select System Settings > System Update again.
  8. Select OK to reset your 3DS to its original settings.
  9. Select System Settings > System Info to verify that the update has been installed successfully.
